In a recent uncovering of GST evasion, the noted Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved is under the scanner for not letting the GST rate reduction benefits to the consumers across the country.
The analysis went through the directorate general of anti-profiteering (DG-AP) which will be investigating the whole matter through the previous transactions done after the rate reduction.
The complaint went on to state that the Patanjali had benefitted after the rate reduction on most of the fast moving consumer goods including toothpaste, shampoo, shaving cream and cosmetics.
The directorate general of anti-profiteering (DG-AP) is set to initiate a probe in which it would prepare a complete report within 3 months after which the report would be submitted to the National Anti-profiteering Authority (NAA).
It is speculated that the penalty would be the complete benefits earned through the period must be refunded to the authorities or it may also get to reduce the price as an immediate effect.
It is not among the first complaint against any company for not passing GST rate reduction benefits to the consumers. Many companies have got serious notices against the violation of the anti-profiteering provision.
Patanjali recently made a tie-up with multiple e-commerce portals for extending its consumer base. According to the reports, the authorities may also go through the records of online transactions with such e-commerce portals.
