An official memorandum has been issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). It grants extensions for name reservations and e-form resubmissions. This is issued after the fire incident at the MCA21 Data Centre on June 5, 2026. The decision mitigate disruptions encountered by stakeholders in the ongoing restoration and capacity enhancement activities.
As per the memorandum (No. EGov-04/2/2021-e-Gov-MCA, Comp.No. 185122), the following relief measures have been approved:
Extension of Name Reservation Validity:
- Approved name reservations expiring between June 21 and June 30, 2026, will now remain valid until July 10, 2026.
- For those whose reservations expired between June 5 and June 20, 2026, you can ask for an extension until July 10, 2026. Just submit a request to the MCA Helpdesk before June 30, 2026. Each request will be looked at on a case-by-case basis to ensure the name is still available.

MCA21 is the Ministry of Corporate Affairs’ online e‑governance platform that handles all company‑related filings and records in India. It’s the official portal where companies and LLPs file statutory forms, returns, and documents under the Companies Act, 2013 and LLP Act, 2008.
It functions as an electronic filing (e‑filing) of incorporation documents, annual returns, and other regulatory submissions. Name reservation is the initial measure to secure a company’s identity before incorporation.
