GST Collection in July 2026 Rises 15.4% to Over Rs. 2.11 Lakh Crore

GST Collections for July 2026

Gross GST collections surged 15.4% to more than INR 2.11 lakh crore in July 2026, driven by higher earnings from domestic sales and imports, reflecting sustained economic activity and consumption. The GST collections stood at ₹1.83 lakh crore in July 2025 and ₹1.95 lakh crore in the previous month.

Tax collection from domestic transactions has surged 10.1% to more than Rs 1.44 lakh crore, and gross revenues from imports increased 29% to Rs 66,511 crore. GST collection exhibits continued economic resilience even after issues in the external environment.

The steady growth in GST collections each month on domestic consumption shows that overall domestic consumption is becoming insulated from seasonal variations and external headwinds. In July, the GST collections have surged in major manufacturing States such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Telangana.

Imports are the reason for most of the GST revenue growth, and it will be beneficial when it is analysed in depth whether that’s finished goods or raw materials, and how much of it shows a weaker rupee instead of higher volumes.

In the month, Gross Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) revenue reached Rs 39,835 crore, while State GST (SGST) and Integrated GST (IGST) collections were ₹47,881 crore and more than ₹1.23 lakh crore, respectively.

In July, total refunds rose 13.1% to Rs 29,968 crore. After refunds adjustment, the net GST revenue reached more than Rs 1.81 lakh crore. Domestic GST has surged by 10.1%, which shows stronger, more resilient household consumption, formalisation and industrial activity.

Robust gains across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Haryana, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh affirm momentum across India’s largest manufacturing, services and consumption hubs.

The sustained double-digit growth in GST collections is a robust confirmation of the underlying resilience of the Indian economy, and it shows a consumption story that continues to hold firm even after global headwinds.

The issue of the surged levels of import GST collections is a continued concern. It shows a persistent gap in domestic manufacturing capability even after the range of successful PLI and Atmanirbhar Bharat interventions introduced over the past few years.

From the GST data released on August 1, 2026, gross tax collection has surged 10.1% to nearly ₹8.43 lakh crore in April-July. Net collections increased 9.2% to ₹7.21 lakh crore during the period.
