Dimapur Unit Tax Department Carries Out Field Inspection Drive for GST Compliance Awareness

Dimapur Unit GST Department Conducts Field Inspection Drive for Awareness

The State Taxes Department’s unit performed a field inspection from July 13 to 14 across various business establishments in Dimapur district, Nagaland.

The inspection is part of its ongoing measures to make Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance stronger, promote awareness among traders and vendors, and verify business activities at the ground level.

A team of officers led by the Deputy Commissioner of State Taxes performed the inspection after an authorisation was issued by the Office of the Commissioner of State Taxes, Nagaland, under section 67 of the Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (NGST) Act, 2017.

At the time of inspection, the officials validated the issuance of GST bills and invoices by registered vendors, conducted stock verification, reviewed business activities, and analysed GST registration details to confirm compliance with the provisions of the NGST Act. The team communicated with business owners to specify GST-pertinent queries and encouraged voluntary tax compliance.

As part of the awareness campaign, officers informed traders and consumers about the significance of issuing and receiving proper GST invoices. They outlined that GST bills promote transparency, reduce tax evasion, and contribute to the development of the State.

The department said that most of the registered taxpayers inspected were found to be complying with GST norms. In some establishments, certain discrepancies were discovered. Such matters will be analysed as per the norms of the NGST Act, 2017.

The State Taxes Department has requested all business establishments to provide GST invoices for every taxable supply and keep accurate books of account. It exhorted consumers to insist on GST bills for every purchase.
