The GST Council will hold a 2-day meeting, starting from today to figure out the argumentative issue of dual control between the central and state government. Notedly, this is the 8th council meeting since the foundation.
Earlier, the GST Council organised a meeting last month and cleared the GST draft law. However, the council couldn’t discuss the issue of dual control raised by the state government. The debate on the dual control is important for the GST implementation. The burning debate is pending upon the right to control all the assessees holding an annual turnover up to Rs 1.5 crore. The states are not in a mood to hand over the control in the centre’s hands.
This meeting is focused towards having a healthy debate over the dual control between the members. The opposition parties are already in touch with other political parties for the preparation of this two-day council meeting.
The GST Council headed by Finance Minister is also likely to meet delegates of the six key sectors to evaluate the implementation hurdles under the upcoming GST regime.
