Cases Against Central Government Start Increasing Due GST

Supreme Court

In a recent crackdown on the central government, the supreme court has seen a rise in cases where the central government is one of the parties involved in the case. The reason behind such number of cases is attributed to the goods and services tax and note ban where the general public found themselves in strict conditions due to the decisions are taken by the central government.

Many of the officials from the ministry also stated the reason being noted ban or demonetisation as they are in direct contact with the case filings and representations. According to the statements released by the ministry, it was stated that “A number of cases relate to demonetisation, announced in November 2016, GST which came into effect last year and other taxation issues.”

This came at a time when the number of government representatives has been increased from 6 to now 10 representatives earlier week, but still, there are no words on the solicitor general to take the position. In this regrading, the law ministry has already pushed the file to the Prime Minister’s Office for a approval in which names like Aman Lekhi, Madhvi Diwan, Sandeep Sethi and Bikramjeet Banerjee as additional solicitors general were given as suggestions.

The solicitor general post is lying vacant from the last October and there are no words on how this post will be filled with an eligible candidate. Somehow the previous generals have been maintaining the law and order for the government even when they are retired in last year.

  1. The government should transfer to all which amount as ITC credit by carrying forward in VAT system. If anyone pay tax by delay government collected penalty and interest. But our credit in the previous system from jun 2017. Tran 1 closed with quickly and due to date confusion. Why they asking TRAN 1 documents for refund and time limit? .Everything in vat system. Our refund amount is the credit of excess tax paid by the purchase of invoices. Please, government and GST council consider the refund and reopen TRAN 1 option in GST portal.
