Chowdary Purushottam Naidu, the honorary president of the Andhra Pradesh GST Officers and Employees Association, encouraged all officials and employees to support the government in effectively implementing tax reforms. He emphasised the importance of using modern tools like artificial intelligence and data analysis to improve tax collection efforts.
He alleged that some officials from other associations were attempting to undermine the image of the government and the Chief Commissioner of the AP GST wing, Babu Ahmed, who was instrumental in ensuring the optimal use of technology in tax collections.
Mr Purushottam Naidu, in the media, stated that technology has detected Rs 3,361 crore in tax collections for March 2026, despite the Union government’s 6-month-old downward revision of GST slabs.
“A few officials and employees with vested interests are creating unrest among others after the denial of promotions due to certain procedures. The individual grievances cannot be used as a pretext to damage the image of the government,” he mentioned.
According to Mr Purushottam, Mr Babu Ahmed has confirmed that all officials collected tax arrears from industries and business houses in the last couple of years.
“A few officials not interested in discharging their duties are instigating agitations in the department. It is not correct to disturb the government since it needs proper tax collections for effective implementation of welfare and developmental schemes in the State,” he stated.

He added that the leaders of the majority of the associations have filed a petition to Mr Babu Ahmed in Amaravati for the grievances of the staff, while ensuring support for effective tax collections in semi-urban and rural areas.
