DGTS and Belapur Commissionerate Host Hybrid GST Seminar for Industry and Tax Experts

DGTS Hosts Seminar on GST in Real Estate and Works Contracts

The Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), Mumbai Zonal Unit, in collaboration with the CGST & Central Excise, Belapur Commissionerate, organised a Hybrid Seminar-cum-Webinar on GST in Real Estate and Works Contracts: Compliance Challenges, Practical Solutions, and Recent Updates on July 15, 2026.

The event brought together builders, developers, contractors, tax professionals, representatives from trade and industry, and officers of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to discuss the latest GST developments, compliance issues, and practical solutions for the real estate and construction sectors.

Shri Sumit Kumar, Principal Additional Director General, DGTS, Mumbai Zonal Unit, started the programme virtually.

He stressed the requirement to enhance understanding of GST norms in the real estate and works contract sectors concerning the changing compliance requirements, legislative amendments, and court rulings.

He admired the support of Shri R.L. Ramesh Ram, Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise, Belapur Commissionerate, and the efforts of officers of DGTS and Belapur Commissionerate in conducting the event.

Shri R.L. Ramesh Ram, while addressing the participants, expressed the significance of these awareness programmes in promoting better understanding of GST and encouraging voluntary compliance through closer engagement with taxpayers.

Shri Vivek Laddha, Chartered Accountant, Advocate, and GST expert, addressed the technical session. He described GST provisions concerning real estate transactions, works contracts, input tax credit (ITC), reverse charge mechanism, compliance requirements, recent CBIC circulars and important judicial decisions, supported by practical examples and case studies.

With an interactive question-and-answer session, the seminar concluded, during which participants received explanations for practical GST problems.

The programme reiterates the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS)’s efforts to make taxpayer awareness stronger and streamline voluntary tax compliance through regular outreach initiatives. read more
