Income Tax Portal Receives Over 30 Lakh Tax Audit Reports

Over 30.75 lakh audit reports had been filed on the e-filing portal by the end of the due date on September 30, 2023. In this also included approximately 29.5 lakh tax audit reports for the assessment year 2023-24. These reports involved tax audit reports (TARs) as well as other audit reports in Form No. 29C, 29B, 10CCB, and similar formats, ensuring timely compliance.

The income tax department released a statement praising taxpayers and tax professionals for their on-time submission and meeting the compliance requirements. Those required to undergo an audit of their books were expected to submit the tax audit report on or before September 30 for the respective assessment year.

The income tax department emphasized that extensive outreach programs were conducted to assist taxpayers.

Various outreach activities had been conducted and around 55.4 lakh activities were carried out via emails, SMSs, social media platforms, and information messages on the Income Tax portal to raise awareness and remind taxpayers to file their Tax Audit Reports and other audit forms within the given deadline.

To provide guidance, various user awareness videos were uploaded on the Income Tax Portal, which proved beneficial in assisting taxpayers and tax professionals in meeting the filing requirements within the due date.

The e-filing portal smoothly handled the high volume of traffic, ensuring a feasible experience for taxpayers and tax professionals during the tax audit report filing process.

The e-filing Helpdesk team actively responded to approximately 2.36 lakh queries from taxpayers in September 2023, ensuring prompt support and resolving any intricacies encountered during the filing period. The Helpdesk team provided assistance through inbound and outbound calls, live chats, Webex, and co-browsing sessions.

Several webinars were conducted specifically for tax professionals to guide them through the process of filing Audit forms.
