On the Ministry of Corporate Affairs’ (MCA) Version 3 portal, issues are encountered by Company secretaries, chartered accountants, and other compliance professionals, which have made the process of annual filings slower.
Even after the extension of the filing due date by the MCA to December 31, 2025, the professionals cite that the move provides temporary relief and is unable to solve the technical problems that have corrupted the system since its inception.
The same extension shall solve issues for now, but what about the concern towards the hours wasted earlier in attempting to file forms? Filing is just part of compliance. The government needs to take responsibility for the inefficiencies of the system.
There are issues in the latest version of the MCA portal. It is reported that users are not able to change passwords, update profiles, save data in e-forms, and limitations on attachment sizes, among other issues. Specific filings need approvals that delay the mechanism.
The MCA, in its notifications on October 17, has considered such problems, citing that companies need to provide more time to get familiarised with the process of filing following the deployment of the new e-forms. As per the ministry, it had obtained various requests from stakeholders and hence permitted the companies to finish their annual filings for FY25 without additional fees till the end of December.
But the professionals claimed that the issue remains unresolved. The quick relief could merely be provided by the extension. Due to technical issues, the task that needs to be completed in 15 minutes is taking an hour, which raises concerns about system efficiency.
On January 14, 2025, the MCA Version 3 portal went live, rolling out 38 new e-forms aimed at facilitating compliance. Opposite to version 2, in which the forms were filled out offline and uploaded, version 3 permits users to fill out forms online. It was made to enhance the user experience with features such as saving drafts, resuming incomplete filings, and accessing a “My Application” dashboard to track submission status.
Professionals cite that many of these features are not operating as intended. Users are frustrated, and workflow is disrupted by the delays, frequent error messages, and inconsistent form validations, especially in the peak compliance months.

Industry bodies have asked the government to create a dedicated technical task force to unravel such recurring issues, ensure accountability, and restore user trust in the digital compliance infrastructure.
In the conclusion made by one compliance expert, “The intent behind Version 3 was modernisation, but without reliable functionality, it risks becoming a compliance bottleneck rather than a convenience.”
