An important alert has been issued by the Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check Unit (PIB Fact Check) to caution the taxpayers against a fake email scam impersonating the Income Tax Department.
The bogus email claims to be the income tax department and asks the receiver to undergo a manual verification, and includes suspicious links or requests for sensitive data.

- The same email is FAKE!
- Do NOT click on suspicious links or share personal, financial, or sensitive information via email, SMS, or call.
Taxpayers are asked to stay vigilant and not fall for the fraud attempts that show they are official government officials. Such emails defraud users into revealing their personal details, bank credentials, or login information, which can then be misused for identity theft or financial fraud.
