‘PRARAMBH 2026’ has been introduced by the Income Tax Department as a nationwide multimedia awareness campaign centred on the Income Tax Act, 2025, which will come into effect on April 1, 2026.
The initiative spans print, radio, television, outdoor, digital, and social media platforms, aiming to enhance public understanding of the new law’s features and facilitate compliance for taxpayers.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the launch event has specified the significance of choosing a fresh, taxpayer-friendly mindset, bypassing enforcement-driven strategies to trust-based engagement.
She specified that the new act is made to lessen pecularity, reduce disputes, and streamline compliance for honest taxpayers while deploying technology and analytics to detect evasion. Officially released several resources like-
- A comprehensive documentary on the making of the new Act.
- A compendium of FAQs bridging the old and new Acts
- Regional language brochures and an educational animated book for schools, “Madhukar Explains.”
Representatives from various sectors, including chartered accountants and NPOs, at the launch have furnished feedback outlining the requirement for fast-tracked dispute resolution and an easier procedure for non-profits.
The PRARAMBH 2026 campaign enhances taxpayer engagement via numerous initiatives created to make the transition to the new tax regime easier and accessible. The purpose of the campaign is to lessen confusion and litigation by reducing the intricacy of forms and shortening the overall act.
The campaign launch has been joined by Senior officials, including Revenue Secretary Arvind Srivastava, CBDT Chairman Ravi Agrawal, and CBIC Chairman Vivek Chaturvedi, outlining the reform as a milestone in the tax journey of India.
