GSTN Chairman Navin Kumar said in a statement, “Tax payers’ convenience will be a key factor in the success of GST regime. The tax payer should have a choice to use third party applications which can provide varied interfaces on desktops, laptops, and mobiles and can connect with GST System,”
The new process has been targeted to make an smooth way towards the payment of taxes of new GST scheme, while equally inviting banks, Infotech companies and financial technology companies to become the part of this government taxation base and become a GST Suvidha Providers (GSPs), thereby serving the taxpayers from registration of entity to uploading of invoice details to filing of returns.
The GST regime will be accommodating a government-to-business portal structure which will be allowing the taxpayer to interact and access it. In fact, there will be more choices by which a taxpayer can access the GSTN including modern applications and interface used in desktop and mobile apps.
Therefore multiple ways of interaction would be available for the taxpayers, and basically of two sets, one of which app user and GSP while the other would be GSP and GST system and from the stronghold assumption it is very much definite that the app provider and GSP would be holding the same position. The second version says that the data required in particular format will directly head towards GSP-GST server.
Mr. Kumar said, “The GSP developed apps will connect with the GST system via secure GST system APIs. Most of GST system functionalities related to taxpayers` GST compliance requirements shall be available to the GSP through APIs. GSPs may use GST APIs and enrich and enhance the tax payers’ experience,”
Any Infotech company or digital solution enterprise can associate with GST network to become a service provider to the millions of taxpayers while the criteria to become eligible for this governmental association one must pre-qualify the measures for GSPs like ticking the check-box of digital presence and having expertise team of financial application developers. Also, a formality accompanied by a bank guarantee and contract signing with GSTN.
As assured by Kumar itself, “On signing of the contract, GSPs will get a unique license key for accessing the GST system. GSPs will be authenticated using this license key provided by GSTN.”
The GST regime is a greatest financial reformation absorbing all the indirect taxes currently prevailing in the nation and this scheme has been decided to apply on April 1, 2017.

Sir, Are you software developer and want to develop an accounting software then yes there is requirement to have API but if you are end user then there is no requirement to have any API. Your accounting software and taxation software have ability to console the work with each other.
