GST Grievance Redressal Cell

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has taken initiative for the structured system to tackle the GST-related grievances of the taxpayers by setting up Goods and Services Tax grievance redressal committees.

On 18th December, the GST panel at a meeting concluded to form GST grievance redressal cells at zonal and state levels. In this regard, the guidelines have been given by the GST policy department and the instructions have been to all principal chief commissioners and chief commissioners to build the committees.

According to the CBIC, these grievance redressal committees (GRCs) will evaluate and iron out the problems be turned towards taxpayers & the issues related to GSTR filing processes Get to know the online procedure of filing GST returns in India. We provide each and every GST form according to the taxpayers category, other procedures and IT-associated problems related to GST. Issues of general, as well as specific nature, will be sorted out by the GRCs.

GRCs will be formed at zonal & state levels and will comprise of tax officers at central & state-level along with GST Network (GSTN) representative. Also, representatives of trade & industry and other GST collaborators will be members of such committees. GRCs will be formed for a tenure of two years and their meetings will be conducted regularly- at least once in a quarter.

GSTN will develop a web portal where the complaints will be put up & recorded by the secretary of GRC. The access to the web portal will be given to the GRC so that the committee can see the problems and fare forward for their resolution and accordingly the status of the complaints will also be updated regularly on the portal.

Complaints’ status will be allowed to be viewed by the GST stakeholders, nodal officers of GSTN, Co-chairs of the GRC, CBIC’s policy wings of the CBIC and Secretariat of GST Council so that actions can be taken accordingly. GRC secretary will also have to submit a progress report every quarter to the GST Council secretariat and the CBIC’s GST policy wing.

Depending on the matter, the issued will be referred to the particular wing of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). Like, the issues related to the GST policy will be turned over to the GST policy wing of CBIC for the examination and if needed, will put before the GST council for review & approval. The GST Council has been undertaking actions to simplify the process of filing tax returns so that taxpayers’ base can be augmented and therefore tax collections can be increased.
