For transport carriers, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag is Acquired for accomplishing e-Way bill requirements has become compulsory in UP.
UP government has advised the transporters to provide their information in FORM GST EWB-01 and must get an RFID tag under GST.
The notification says that the RFID tag must be placed on the windscreen of the goods carrier and this RFID tag must be synchronized with the E-Way bill system.
Happy with the move taken by the government, Indian Industries Association (IIA), President, Sunil Vaish said, “The system of RFID has been introduced with an objective of curbing tax evasion.”
As it is the first step taken by the government for acquiring RFID tag under GST, transporters might face problems after the move which will keep a track on the inter-state transit of goods from UP, he added.
He also said, “This move will safeguard honest taxpayers and thus create a healthy competitive environment in the state.”
He also advised that this must be applied at a slow rate as it is operational issues.

The e-Way bill is compulsory for the goods carrier whose value is Rs 50,000 or more between inter-state and intra-state. However, there is no other state which has made the RFID tag mandatory yet.
