On Tuesday, Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) said, without the implementation of GST Regime operating the business in Jammu & Kashmir will not be possible. The political parties will be liable for two major points i.e., increase in prices of daily consumptions items due to the double taxation and shortfall of necessary items.
The Chamber also ensured that the government headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti will apply new regime from 1st July 2017, it is not possible to operate the business without the implementation of new GST Regime.
Rakesh Gupta, President of JCCI told to media reporters, “We question the Jammu & Kashmir government as well as the politicians in opposition and the separatists that how could be business possible without GST. They shall be responsible for the shortage of essential supplies as well as the hike in prices of everyday commodities due to double taxation”.
The President of Chamber, Rakesh Gupta has informed to all the politicians whether they are in mainstream or in separatist politics, not to create any confusing situation if they are not able to solve the situation.
Gupta also said, “GST is a pure taxation reform, which has nothing to do with the constitution of J&K and also it is the first time that all the states of India have been granted financial autonomy by this federal system of GST “. He further added that “We thank Union finance minister for expressing his serious concern for implementation of GST by sending a communication to the chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir.” Gupta said chamber party members feel that some opinion will definitely take by all-party meeting tomorrow, in fact as it is a matter of tax regime.

Rakesh said “The chamber is exercising restraint and not acting in any such manner which will affect the law and order situation that will affect the Amarnath Yatra that will be commencing the day after. “He further added that the chamber is continuously in contact with its counterparts in Kashmir.”
In another statement, state Bhartiya Janta Party has communicated to the State Government, to take necessary actions for implementing new taxation structure as recommended by the Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley. Sunil Sethi, Chief Spokesperson of the state unit of BJP said, “(The) state has got opportunity never before to stand with the nation in the major developmental project. ”
The letter sent by Jaitley is a major icebreaker step and the state government should not show any egoism in implementing the new indirect tax regime in the state. He called on the state government to talk about the issue with the state cabinet.
