Two GoMs Setup for GST Reforms

Towards the terms of reference ToR of the 2 panels of the ministry build for improvising the GST to verify the present rate slab structure of GST.

The New Panels Brief Organizes an Overarching Mandate

finding the special rates under the tax structure, rationalization proposals consisting of “a merger of tax rate slabs for clarifying the rate structure”, adjacent to verify the instances of inverted duty structure and finding out the references for expanding the revenues.

A seven group of ministers (GoM) has been created by the Finance ministry beneath Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai for “rate rationalisation” and another eight-member GoM under Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for GST system reforms mentioned by the orders provided on 24th September.

“The GoM may suggest changes that may be implemented immediately and the roadmap for implementation for the changes that should be implemented in the short and medium-term, the order mentioned.” The group might provide the interim report towards these quick measures as this might be settled and shall need to furnish the report in 2 months they said.

“GoM members on the rate rationalization consisting of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad, Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, Goa’s Minister for Transport and Panchayati Raj, Housing, Protocol and Legislative Affairs Mauvin Godinho; Rajasthan’s Minister for Local Self Government, Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal; Law and Legal Affairs Shanti Kumar Dhariwal; Urban Development and Housing, and West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra.”

GoM upon GST platforms shall find out the IT tools and interface present within the tax officers and recommend the process to generate a more efficient system, finding out the evasion sources, finding the utilization of data analysis for effective guidelines and GST revenue increasing and recommend the practices of these data analysis and find out the process towards an effective link between Central and State tax administration. To officials, GoM shall provide the suggestions with time and shall validate the execution of improvements measures approved through the officials.

“GoM consists of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, Odisha Finance and Excise Minister Niranajan Pujari, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath, Chhattisgarh Commercial Taxes Minister TS Singh Deo, Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, and Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan.”
