GST Appeals & Compliance Webinar by DGTS and GSTAT Ahmedabad

On June 10, 2026, a nationwide webinar was conducted by the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), in collaboration with the GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), Ahmedabad Bench, to teach taxpayers and professionals about GST appeal procedures and compliance provisions.

The online session covered the scrutiny of appeal documents, calculation and payment of mandatory pre-deposit, and court fee requirements for filing appeals before GSTAT.

DGTS Mumbai Zonal Unit and Ahmedabad Zonal Unit jointly organised the webinar as a part of the government’s ongoing taxpayer awareness and stakeholder engagement initiatives. It drew participation from taxpayers, trade associations, advocates, chartered accountants, cost accountants, company secretaries, departmental officers, and other stakeholders from across India.

Shri Sumit Kumar, Principal Additional Director General of DGTS Mumbai and Ahmedabad Zonal Units, addressing the participants, outlined the role of DGTS as the taxpayer outreach arm of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

He mentioned the significance of taxpayer awareness and procedural compliance for confirming the effective resolution of GST disputes. He admired the assistance extended by the GSTAT Ahmedabad Bench in organising the programme.

Shri Vivek Kumar, Joint Registrar, GSTAT Ahmedabad, and Shri Ajay Suhag, Assistant Registrar, GSTAT Ahmedabad, delivered the technical sessions. The speakers specified the procedural provisions for submitting appeals before GSTAT, common deficiencies noted at the time of scrutiny of appeal papers, and effective practices for confirming complete and error-free documentation.

They furnished norms on computing and paying the mandatory pre-deposit and court fees under the GST appellate structure.

A session of interactive question-and-answer allowed participants to ask for clarification on practical problems of GST appeals. DGTS expressed gratitude towards the GSTAT Ahmedabad Bench, resource persons, and participants for their contribution and reaffirmed its devotion to performing similar outreach programmes to improve taxpayer awareness and promote voluntary GST compliance.
