Delhi Government Against GST Evaders

In a bid to adhere Goods and Services Tax (GST) Regime, an extensive drive has been launched by Delhi Government on 12 October 2018 which will help to keep an eye on tax defaulters those which are evading taxes under GST. Furthermore, it would help to increase revenue for the national capital.

An extensive drive is a great move being implemented by the Department of Trade and Taxes which would help to check tax evasion in the country. Apart from that, it would also increase the revenue of the country.

“A detailed strategy has been chalked out by the department and numerous instructions like identifying dealers carrying out business without registration and rigorous follow-up of notices to non-filers of return have been issued to GST officers of the state tax department,” said VAT Commissioner H. Rajesh Prasad while providing the information about the drive.

Some of the strict actions have been taken by the government against the taxpayers who are evading taxes under GST. The extensive drive must follow some instructions such as enquiry and inception done against taxpayers claiming for extra Input Tax Credit in GSTR-3B form than the GSTR-2A, strict actions have been taken by the government against taxpayers who have shown lesser output tax liability in GSTR-3B than the GSTR-1, analyzing of Input Tax Credit (ITC) claimed by the taxpayers in TRAN-1 form and scrutiny on the taxpayers claiming extra ITC.

Delhi government also stated in a press release that shows cause notices have been issued to 51,500 tax defaulters who have not submitted GSTR-3B returns for the mentioned deadline.

Apart from that, 135 cases have arrived in respect of an excessive claim of ITC in GSTR-3B by the taxpayers, 837 notices have been issued in respect of demonstrating lesser output tax liability in GSTR-3B form taxpayers than GSTR 1.
