IT Criminal Cases Under Commissioner Collegium

The Income Tax officials will not be able to file any criminal complaint against the tax evasion cases from now on. The government decided to set-up a commissioner collegium for this matter.

Central Law Minister Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, while addressing the media reporters announced that before now all the procedures for the dealings of such cases were started by the officials themselves, but from now on this will not happen.

Now a collegium of three Income Tax Commissioners will be hearing the proceedings of such cases of tax evasion. If they will be satisfied in full, then only they will be giving the permissions to consider any case as a criminal one.

This decision was taken after keeping in mind the results of some previous cases in which tax was not paid by some individuals by mistake and considered criminals by the officials.

No Notices From Now on

The law minister also informed that no physical notice will be sent to the taxpayers from now on, instead, they will be given an Electronic Notice, that is, an e-mail for the same. From now on no officials will be allowed to send notices according to their wishes. Mr. Prasad also said that any notices received after 30 Nov should not be considered valid.

The law minister also appealed to the public that the taxpayers should file their return correctly and truly. He asked more and more individuals to come out front and file the returns correctly.
