GST Audit Authority & Business Intelligence Unit

The state is going to establish a new GST Audit Authority and Business intelligence Unit. It was announced in the 2020-21 State Budget that these two units are being formed for the effective and efficient management of commercial taxes in the state. Not only this, but the Commercial Tax Department is also decided to be restructured for the same.

According to the Budget, the officials of the Commercial Tax Department are to be considered equivalent to the officers of the Indian government. Additionally, they will try and set uniformity in the Administrative Structure. It will also work for the easy passage of goods. There will be a regular checking for economic offences. Automatic Number Plate Recognition along with Radio Frequency Identification devices will be developed initially for the main routes.

Recently, a businessman tried to evade tax amounting to INR 21 Crores but was arrested and a top official was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, which was possible as the authorities were alerted promptly which helped in curbing such malpractices.

For the first time in Rajasthan, the government is trying to launch AI to catch the tax evaders and to boost revenue Tax sleuths have planned a fresh crackdown on traders practising tax evasion of Goods and Services Tax (GST) by pursuing new registration for their businesses. All these processes, steps and new departments will be helpful to the Government and the Tax Authorities.
