The latest e-filing web portal was successfully launched on 7, June 2021 by the income tax department on the website www.incometax.gov.in. the motive to launch the new e-filing portal is aimed at giving the assessee convenience and a modern, seamless experience to the assessee.
FM Instructs Infosys to Develop Taxpayer Friendly New E-portal
On Tuesday FM Nirmala Sitharaman said Infosys and the Chairman of Infosys Nandan Nilekani to rectify the technical issues which are been faced on the income tax department’s new e-filing website, post to the users complained on her Twitter. Infosys was in 2019 conferred a contract to promote the next-generation income tax filing system to lessen the processing time for the returns from 63 days to one day and facilitate the refunds.

“In preparation for the transition to the new system, the existing tax e-filing portal will not be available to both taxpayers as well as department officers for a period of six days from June 1 to June 6,” the notice said.
Furthermore, IT Officers have also been given instructions to schedule compliances or hearings after June 10 for the simple reason that the taxpayers can be accustomed to the new web portal. Pre-scheduled hearings shall be postponed to after June 10.
“It is clarified that ITBA and CPC system will continue to function for assessment-related functions. All orders, notices issued during the period will be visible to taxpayers after the new portal goes live on June 7,” the notice said
Now coming to officers of the tax department including principal commissioner income tax, chief income tax officers for appeal and assessing officers shall interconnect with taxpayers through e-proceedings via a web portal.

Can we deposit the first instalment of adv tax for AY 2022-23 from my bank as was done earlier thru NEFT/RTGS instead of online as I do not have online payment facility so far? I understand that govt. has extended to Deposit adv tax thru my bank for this particular quarter. Plz confirm and reply. Thanks
