The central government has extended the deadline for submitting appeals to the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) until July 31, 2026. This extension is in accordance with Section 112(1) read with Section 112(3) of the CGST Act. The Ministry of Finance announced this extension in a release from the Press Information Bureau (PIB) dated June 30, 2026.
Previously, the government had announced June 30, 2026, as the due date for submitting the appeals before the GSTAT via a notification issued on September 17, 2025.
The government mentioned that the last date has been extended after the representations from various stakeholders showed technical issues caused by a heavy rush of appeal filings on the GSTAT portal.
The government stated that although the deadline was announced in advance, approximately 30,000 appeals were submitted in the last 15 days alone, with the GSTAT portal recording a peak of 5,500 appeals in a single day.

Taxpayers have been informed well in advance to submit their GSTAT appeals before the deadline and prevent waiting until the last moment to prevent technical issues and portal congestion.
