GSTN Deadline to Save Older GST Return Data Before 01st October

From October 1, 2024, the facility of viewing data of GST returns furnished seven years ago on the GST portal will be finished. In other means, From October 1 the data which gets older than September 2017 would get removed. As per the requirement of the traders it is recommended to preserve their data.

As per the official information of the office of the State GST commissioner, under the data policy of the GST portal, the data for view of the assesses would be retained for 7 years only. Hence the identical data policy would be accomplished on the GST portal. Hence the return data beyond seven years would not be present to view for the assesses.

As per that on August 1 return furnished for July 2017 has been archived and on September 1 the data for August 2017 would get archived. Additionally, this data archiving will occur monthly, meaning that on October 1, the data from September 2017 will be retrieved from the GST portal, and this process will continue each month thereafter.

Therefore, the assesses are suggested to download their pertinent data from the GST portal for any forthcoming reference, if needed. It has been stated that according to Section 39 (11) of the CGST Act, 2017, which came into effect on October 1, 2023, as per the Central Tax GST notification dated July 31, 2023, taxpayers will not be permitted to submit GST returns once three years have passed since the due date for filing the return.
