Congress President Sonia Gandhi interacts with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today for the discussion whether that Congress party will attend the event of midnight 30th June or not. And on this issue, Partys senior spokesperson Satyavrat Chaturvedi said, the Congress will not attend the special GST meeting on its implementation.
“What these two leaders decide, will seal the fate whether Congress will join the GST rollout celebration event or not. Other senior leaders are of the view that keeping traders’ sentiments in mind, one should avoid going to GST midnight event,” a senior Congress leader said.
Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee Trinamool Congress (TMC) and M Karunanidhi’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) have already declared their decision they will not attend the event of 30th June.

Some of the people in the Congress feel that the Opposition party must refuse the event. However, Manmohan Singh has invited as a special guest for attending the special event of midnight 30th June. That means he will get a platform to share their views in front of President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi- the Congress itself in a situation to fix the issue.
In today’s meet, Congress leaders talked about the advantages and disadvantages of attending the event of 30th June, as some within the party fear a fallout like demonetisation.
The state government of Jammu and Kashmir will also take a final decision today on the implementation of Goods and Service Tax Regime. Whereas Haryana Congress leaders headed by former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, will join the cloth merchants of Rohtak, who are complaining about the implementation of GST Regime, it is the biggest market of cloth in the region.

Some opposition parties such as Bahujan Samaj Party, Nationalist Congress Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Nationalist Congress Party, have also organised meetings of their respective party leaders today for the finalisation of strategies.
Meanwhile, MP TKS Elangovan, of the DMK, said his party “feels it is just another important legislation so why this show off. A mega practice session was organised on Wednesday night in the Central Hall of Parliament before the launching of Goods and Service Tax Regime on the midnight of 30th June.”
