E Way Bill West Bengal Mizoram

GST intrastate E Way Bill is about to get implemented in both Mizoram and West Bengal starting from 1st June 2018 and 3rd June 2018 respectively. Both the states are in the preparedness to implement the GST E Way Bill in their state.

The governor of Mizoram announced via a notification that the states will have to implement GST e way bill anyhow from 1st June 2018. Same goes for the West Bengal but the date decided to implement the SGT E Way Bill is 3rd June 2018.

The important here to note down is that the consignment value must be only above INR 10,000 generate and carry a GST E Way Bill in Mizoram, which is less than the pre-decided value of INR 50,000 in other states.

While same does not goes for the West Bengal, as the state will continue with the 50,000 threshold amount for the generation of an E Way Bill. In the state of West Bengal, there are around 64,000 entities which have got registered under the GST E Way Bill system for the interstate transportation of goods.

Earlier the GST E Way Bill was not implemented due to the widespread technical glitches on the GSTN portal but after a conclusive decision, it was decided to roll out the GST E Way Bill in a phased manner.

There were total 4 phases in which the GST E Way Bill was rolled out and recently the E Way Bill in Punjab and Rajasthan were declared for the implementation.

In the 27th GST council meeting, it was decided to roll out the GST E Way Bill in a phased manner and to make some gap to ease out the servers of GSTN portal as there were lakhs of GST e way bill generated in the trial phase of it.

Goods and services tax was implemented last year on 1st July 2017 while the GST e waybill was implemented from 1st April 2018, almost 10 months after the GST rollout due to some issues. It is expected that the GST e waybill will serve the purpose of smooth transportation of goods across India as it removes the checkpoint delays.
