VAT Rate increases in Rajasthan from 5 to 5.5 Percent

Increased Rate of Rajasthan VAT

The Government of Rajasthan Finance Department has given a notification to public regarding to increase Goods Taxable rate. According to Mr. Dr. Devraj, Joint Secretary to Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by the sub-section (5) of the section 4 of the Rajasthan Value Added Tax Act, 2003 (Act No. 4 of 2003), the government has given a suggestion in the public interest.

Here we include the following amendment in schedule 4 appended to the act, with effect from the date of February 2, 2016:

  • For the existing expression “Goods Taxable at 5%”, the expression “Goods Taxable at 5.5%” shall be substituted.
  • In column number 3, for the existing expression “5”, wherever occurring, the expression “5.5” shall be substituted.
  • In column number 3 of Part-A ‘Goods Under Category of IT Products‘, for the existing expression “5”, wherever occurring, the expression “5.5” shall be substituted.
  • In column number 3 of Part-B ‘Goods Under Category of INDUSTRIAL INPUTS‘, for the existing expression “5”, wherever occurring, the expression “5.5” shall be substituted.

  1. why sag is charging both service tax and vat on XBRL software? There is an jugement of tata consultancy services against this given by supreme court.

    1. As we are manufacturing concern, Central Excise Act is applicable on us. But as per judgement of high court, if the assesse is having clients more than 90% which are providing services whom service tax is applicable than the assesse can charges Service Tax instead of Excise duty. That is why we are charging Service Tax and VAT on software.

  2. I want to know wheather Rajasthan government has decreased tax rate on yarn sale (textile unit) from 5% to 2% effective from April 2016. Pls provide me the information.Thank you.
