Tax Filing Into Complete Electronic Mechanism

Consistent on making tax payment a complete electronic mechanism government introduced online e-return forms, e-payment methods and various e-assessment techniques. To this I-T department on Monday declared that it had taken up 58,322 cases of e-assessments cutting out submission of hard copy or personal appearance of the taxpayer.

A step forward towards completely transforming assessment into e-assessment, Revenue Secretary A.B. Pandey inaugurated the National e-Assessment Centre (NeAC), he said that the IT department is pushing its limits to improve the tax system of the country. Principal chief commissioner of Income Tax (PrCCIT) and the first on chair head of NeAC, Krishan Mohan Prasad said that the returns chosen for assessment comprise of all categories of taxpayers. The very next step of the IT department is the circular making e-assessment mandatory for the financial year 2018-19.

The department has listed out certain complicated cases where it would go for assessment in a conventional way.

As per the current e-assessment system, assessees can communicate with the department or department can send notices on the registered email id of the assessee. Documents will carry a Document Identification Number (DIN).

Taxpayers can effortlessly reply to the notices by the IT department from their own comfort zones via email. The email needs to be sent to the National e-Assessment centre and the same will be uploaded to the government’s assigned website.

The government’s e-assessment scheme is a move towards the taxpayer’s convenience and helping him avoid unnecessary hinderance by tax officials.
