State Government to Inspect Cases of GST Over MRP

The Legal Metrological Department of Telangana government is all set to initiate a special check in the State after receiving so many complaints from the public about businesses are imposing GST over and above the MRP mentioned on the packet of the goods.

CV Anand, Civil supplies Commissioner in Telangana and controller of legal metrology department said regarding the issue that traders and businesses who are involved in such a practice will be treated strictly for imposing Goods and Services Tax (GST) over the maximum retail price (MRP). He further said that such a case will be treated as illegal practice and it is liable to take severe action against them.

For the malpractices of an extra imposition of GST, there is a penalty put in order between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 25,000. He clearly warned the importers, manufacturers, and packers for malpractices of accumulating GST over the MRP mentioned on the packet of the goods.
