Rajasthan’s Parliament Affairs Ministers introduced the amended bill on Wednesday related to Goods and Service Tax Laws. The minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal announced the commencement of the said Bill through a voice note in the Parliament House. During the discussion on the bill, he conveyed that only the amendments made in GST by Parliament are highlighted through this Bill. The authoritative note related to the amendments in the laws was issued on December 28 last year pertaining to special circumstances and urgent needs to alter the laws.
He said that the GST system was implemented by the Centre in a hurry due to which it lacks rigidity. The laws thus need fixations from time to time. He further conveyed that the aggregate tax revenue generated by the Centre for the current Financial Year will be Rs. 2.5 lakh crore less than the set target by the Centre.
Further, the minister also revealed that Rs. 2,600 crore is yet to be deposited by the Centre in Rajasthan’s tax kitty as compensation to the state along with Central Sales Tax (CST) of Rs. 4,100 crore which is due. If the Centre releases such compensations to the state, the government will be able to invest in the interest of the public. The GST council meeting has gone through all the pending matters of the return filing, refund, new filing system, automobile industry and hotel industry for their betterment., Rajasthan received only one month’s compensation from the Centre.
Talking about the effect of anti-evasion activities in the state, Dhariwal said that under the jurisdiction of the previous government in the past five years the aggregate of Rs. 25 Crore was recovered by checking 900 vehicles in the state whereas the current government recovered Rs. 75 Crore by checking 2,700 vehicles he said.
He said that Congress rule in the state worked dedicatedly to curb the GST frauds State and Central GST chief commissioners finalized a nine-point plan to nose-dive the revenue leakages under the goods and services tax mechanism, in a meeting taking strict actions against GST frauds in Bhiwadi, Jodhpur, and Kota, while the previous ruling was not effective in taking appropriate measures. The GST Amendment Bill was earlier withheld so that the government could seek public opinion on the Bill.
