The Goods and Services Tax (GST) which was rolled out on 1 July 2017 is a consumption tax which is charged on the supply of goods and services in India. The collection under GST is not able to touch the targets and are falling short of it.
The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) sent a delegation of elected members to Mumbai to meet Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday. The mission behind this meeting was to urge the Chief Minister to help the Board by offering them a share in the collection of the Goods and Services Tax.
GST collection dropped to Rs 94,726 crore in December 2018 as compared to November’s collection of Rs 97,637 crore.
In September, the collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST) came up to INR 94,442 crore, when compared to INR 93,690 crore from the previous month. The data of GST collection was released by the Ministry of Finance on Monday.
IGST is levied on the interstate supply of goods and services as well as Indian imports and exports. Exports are zero-rated under the IGST Act.
As the GST collection is not as per the government prospect, revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia is working towards ways to enhance the tax influx.
Since July 8, 2017 – the day when GST was implemented in J&K, it has been observed by tax officials that the state revenue collection in the state dropped down nearly by Rs 1300 crore.
GST collection is been positive for a long time and now is the time, that the government should think upon the correct and optimum usage of the GST tax collections.
