Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia said on Thursday that the small businesses or traders with annual turnover of up to Rs 20-25 lakh will be exempted from Goods and Services Tax (GST), and the Centre and the states will agree on the same shortly.
More than 55% of the Rajya Sabha members supported the Government’s Goods and Services Tax legalization. Most of the Regional Parties like J Jayalalitha’s AIADMK and Mayawati’s BSP fully supported GST in parliament. Along with BJP’s 53 MPs, 55% of the strength of the total 243 MPs totally gave their support to the Bill account.
The Congress party on Friday insistently said it’s not us but the RSS that does not want the passage of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill in the parliament. FM Jaitley’s deputy, Mr. Jayant Sinha said that the government would have liked to roll-out the GST and also wanted it to be simple.
