GST is the biggest tax reform in India after the Independence. We have taken almost 60 years to pass a tax bill in which a uniform taxation system will be implied to all over the nation.
GST, a new era of indirect taxation law is all set to transform the current indirect taxation system which may propose to become applicable with effect from 1st April 2017. GST system is targeted to be simplified, transparent and efficient.
GST Taxation scheme will stir some of the names under its implication, such as Apex indirect tax body CBEC will be named as the Central Board of Indirect Tax (CBIT) as soon as the GST strikes on 1st April next year. As of now, 15 of the total states have taken the decision of supporting the much talked about GST bill. Now the turn is for major states and all the eyes are on to them. After the GST bill received approval from the monsoon session on August 8 in Parliament, now 14 states are left to ratify the bill and a GST council will be established thereafter. There are some states that are yet to take up the GST in their legislative assembly and some haven’t shown a sign of support.
It’s a document either online or in paper format in which details of supplier/ purchaser are incorporated like Name of the Sales/ purchaser, registration no. (VAT, Service Tax, UIN etc.)as well as in bill details of sales or purchases like Item name, Quantity, Tax rate, tax amount should be there. There is no specific format for invoices but there are some general formats.
Big!! Big!!! Big!! the wait is over!! Now GST Act is not a dream for the companies. It will be implemented very soon. After passing bill in Rajya Sabha, the way of GST act became more easy and we can hope that this act will come in working very soon.
