Online Sellers Facing Scrutiny and Disproportionate Requests During GST Registration

Online MSME Traders Cite GST Registration Red Tape as Business Barrier

The Forum for Internet Retailers, Sellers & Traders (FIRST) India, a division of India Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Forum, stated that various sellers looking to start businesses in the state are facing obstacles in receiving the GST registration.

The forum highlighted the problems encountered by online MSMEs desiring peace in TN for GST registration, in a representation to the principal chief commissioner of Central GST and Central Excise of TN and Puducherry. First shows the companies in India that are in the business of wholesale and retail selling of goods and services both offline and online, to consumers.

The procedure is for easing the functionality of business and has become bulky because of wrong interpretations and strict prerequisites from the registration authorities in the state, as per the release.

The representation cited that the sellers who are applying for the registration are being under scrutiny and undeserved pleas for clarification on insignificant cases, along with the queries for the utilization of shared spaces for business functions, the petitioner’s presence at their desk on all the working days along with the justification for opting the Tamil Nadu as the state of registration even after having a presence in other states.

The notices show the silliness of some of these requests that have been obtained by our members. Sellers used to experience hardships due to the lack of GST compliance knowledge of authorities and used to ask for business opportunities.

Sellers from the Tamil Nadu market face a loss in revenue for the state from the said circumstances apart from situation determent. Sellers want to follow the rules however the enforcement of arbitrary laws is restricting their ability to do business.
