The income tax department mentioned that it is not seeing Digi Yatra data to catch tax evaders. The IT department published on X denied reports that mentioned that Digi Yatra data will be utilised to catch the tax evaders.
It is clarified that, as of now, no such move has been made by the Income Tax Department.
Digi Yatra based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT) furnishes for the contactless facilitated movement of passengers at distinct checkpoints at airports.
In a post on X (formally Twitter), the Income Tax dept wrote, “It is seen that news articles have appeared stating that Digiyatra data will be used to crack down on tax evaders. In this connection, it is clarified that as on date there is no such move by the @IncomeTaxIndia department.”
The passenger-shared data for Digi Yatra is stored in an encrypted format. To claim the service a passenger is required to enroll his or her information on the Digi Yatra app using Aadhaar-based validation and a self-image capture. Subsequently, the boarding pass is required to be scanned and the credentials are been shared with the airport.

Its shareholders are Airport Authority of India (AAI), Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL), Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (HIAL) and Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL).
