As per the latest update available on the GST portal, the due date for filing GSTR-3B for March 2026 has been extended by one day, from 20th April 2026 to 21st April 2026, due to technical glitches and heavy traffic. GSTR-3B is a consolidated GST return that must be filed along with regular GST returns.
Recently, there have been ongoing problems with the GST online system, prompting many tax professionals and organisations to call for an extension on the due date for filing GSTR-3B.
Groups like the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and experts such as Deep Koradia have expressed their concerns. Numerous chartered accountants, tax lawyers, and business leaders across the country have noted issues with the system being slow, prone to errors, and hard to access. They are urging the government to step in and help taxpayers by granting more time, allowing everyone to comply with tax laws without penalties.
Taxpayers are advised to check the updated due date directly on the portal, as multiple users across India have reported issues while filing GSTR-3B due to system-related problems. An official notification is expected to be issued soon.
