GSTN Safe from Ransomware WannaCry Cyber Attack

In a fortunate turn, the upcoming Goods and Services Tax Network will not be affected with the latest circulating ‘WannaCry’ virus attack which has taken hostage thousands of computers and cybersecurity into its hands and has been demanding ransom in Bitcoins to release the server of the computer from its encryption locks.

It was released in a statement that IT framework ‘GSTN’ to facilitate the Goods and services tax in online operations is not affected by the cyber attack as the system framework is based upon Linux and not on Microsoft which is the most vulnerable platform for the cyber attack globally.

GSTN Main operational head, Mr. Prakash Kumar mentioned that GSTN will be able to print 3 billion receipts per month and the initial test trials of the GSTN will be completed tomorrow. He also stated that the GSTN is totally secure against the latest cyber attack ‘WannaCry’ ransomware as the framework works upon Linux which is totally unaffected by the ransomware attack.

GSTN will be held responsible for processing billions of invoices and a staggering number of 60 lakhs taxpayers has been registered under the goods and services tax network who currently pay service tax and value added tax from the business units. Currently, the global IT structure is suffering from a special ransomware called ‘WannaCry’ which takes hostage of the computers and servers who respond to the spam emails, and then demands Bitcoins. Bitcoin is a virtual currency which can be stored as like a bank account and the transactions will be held electronically paying the sum into bitcoins mode rather than physical transactions.

According to the global media sources, the ransomware attack with a name tag of ‘WannaCry’ has taken hostage of dozens of computers system in Britain while the European policy agency has accounted that around 2 lakh computer systems have been infected with this latest cyber attack in around 150 countries all over the globe.
