CEO of GSTN Prakash Kumar stated that some of the features have been added to the GSTN portal to make the platform more effective. Over the last month, it allowed nearly 35 lakh taxpayers to file their returns easily at the portal without any glitches.
On the last day of filing returns in August month i.e. 20th September the portal took a huge load of nearly 1.3 lakh taxpayers per hour while filing returns and the payment of taxes at GSTN. Kumar said, nearly 35 lakh taxpayers had filed their August month returns till Saturday. We have done some improvements at GSTN portal and this can be clarified at the time of filing returns of August month.

Several taxpayers filed their GST returns even after the last dates. Until 20 September more than 30 lakh people filed their returns and it got enhanced up to 35 lakh by 25th September. Penalty and interest on late filings have been removed by the GST Council and now the taxpayers will be able to file their returns even after the extension of deadlines.
