In the starting of January, the GST network (GSTN) Chairman Ajay Bhushan Pandey has said, 55 lakh goods and services tax (GST) returns has been filed so far, which is a rising curve of assessees under the country new tax regime.
But after showing signs of the trend, the GST curve has been dropped in last of January. The returns filed in January stands at 55 lakh, which makes the revenue collection to 82,000 crores, which is reduced as compared to the revenue collection of December, that stands at 86,000 crores.
As per GSTN data, the 56.30 lakh GSTR-3B returns were filed in the month of December, bringing the revenue of 86, 703 crores. While the returns filled in November were 56.03 lakhs, which gives the total revenue of 80,808 crores.
While the sharp decline of the revenue collection from December so far is the topic of discussion, the Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Chairman of GSTN said, that they have received from various sources as far as simplifying returns filing are concerned.
The last date for filing initial GSTR-3B sales return for any month is 20th of every subsequent month. However, the business people can continue to fill the return after the date but with late fees.
