To increase GST compliance as well as put grievances of all potential taxpayers to rest, the Banking and Financial Services Department of the Finance Ministry will launch a hundred-day special campaign in 80 districts for small and medium enterprises from November 2. As part of the GST Awareness drive, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) will also create a GST helpdesk in these districts. The help desk will cater to all GST related queries and grievances ranging from business registrations to filing returns.
India’s honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, will launch the hundred-day campaign for MSME. The 80 districts part of the campaign also includes districts of those states where elections are due in upcoming months and Code of Conduct is in effect. There are 20 districts in which campaign will be started post completion of the election process.
Mr. Upendra Gupta, CBIC GST Commissioner, has already written a letter to Chief Commissioners of all the 80 districts. In the letter, the GST Commissioner has asked respective Chief Commissioners to take appropriate measures to start the GST Helpdesk for the help of MSME traders as well as send names of the officers in charge of the particular district campaigns.
Here’s the list of facilities to be provided by the GST helpdesk:
- GST Return Filing
- GST Registration
- Updated copies of GST laws and regulations to be distributed among SME owners
- Create E-Way Bill awareness by addressing grievances as well as share compliance benefits
The CBIC has further informed respective State Governments to deploy state GST officers in each district for this special event to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the campaign.
