GST Commissionerate Issues Office Circular to Officers for Revenue Target Achievement

No Leave Without Medical Reasons for GST and Revenue Officers

The Central GST & Excise Commissionerate at Surat in a bid to fulfil the revenue targets set for the current financial year has issued a critical direction to all Grade A & B officers. The office circular, 07.02.2024, follows the D.O. dated 18.01.2024 from the Chief Commissioner, Vadodara Zone.

The importance of sustained efforts and operational continuity is been highlighted by the directive approved by the competent authority.

In the cited grades – Grade A & Grade B all officers are mandated to abstain from routine leaves till 31st March 2024, unless encountered with exceptional cases or for medical reasons.

The total gross GST revenue stands at ₹1,67,929 crore in November 2023 consisting of the CGST at ₹30,420 crore, SGST at ₹38,226 crore, IGST at ₹87,009 crore (including ₹39,198 crores from import of goods), and cess at ₹12,274 crore ( including ₹1,036 crores from import of goods ).

From the IGST, the government disbursed ₹37,878 crore to CGST and ₹31,557 crore to SGST. The cumulative revenue for the Centre and States in November 2023, post-settlement, reached ₹68,297 crore for CGST and ₹69,783 crore for SGST.

A 15% YoY increase is seen in the November 2023 GST collection revenues, scoring the highest for any month in FY 2023-24 until November 2023. Domestic transactions, including the import of services, contributed to a 20% growth in revenue compared to the identical month last year. This specifies the 6th instance in FY 2023-24 that gross GST collection exceeded the ₹1.60 lakh crore limit.
