In a statement finance ministry said that for appointment to the posts of Judicial Members, Technical Members (Centre), and Technical Member (State) in the Principal Bench and state benches of the GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), the Department of Revenue has invited applications.
The qualified candidates are directed to apply online and the application portal will be accessible from February 19 until 5 pm dated March 31.
GSTAT is the second Appellate Authority made under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (CGST Act) for hearing distinct pleas. GSTAT will have one Principal Bench located in Delhi and 31 State benches located at different locations in various states.
For 63 posts of judicial members, the applications are invited with the eligibility criteria of being a Judge of the High Court, Serving or retired District Judge or Additional District Judge with 10 years of mixed experience, or a Lawyer with 10 years of experience with substantial experience in litigation in cases concerning with indirect taxes.
The eligibility for officers for 32 posts of Technical Member (Centre), is at least 25 years of experience in Group A in Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Tax), or All India Service with at least 3 years in indirect taxes or finance and tax in the Central Government.

The eligibility for officers for the post of Technical Member (State) is at least 25 years of experience in Group A or identical to the State Government not less than the rank of Additional Commissioner of VAT of SGST, or All India Service with at least 3 years in indirect taxes or finance and tax in the State Government.
“The minimum age to apply is 50 years as of the last date of application. Pay is Rs 2,25,000 (fixed) per month. All other allowances and other terms and conditions of service (DA, Medical etc.) shall be the same as applicable to Central Government officers carrying the same pay (presently an officer at Pay Level 17),” the statement expressed.

The members will be appointed by the Government on the suggestions of Search-Cum-Selection Committee. The applications obtained shall be investigated and the shortlisted candidates might be asked for personal interaction through the committee. A panel of suitable candidates will be suggested through the committee on the grounds of the analysis, to the Government for making the appointments.
