Delhi CM Calls for “Faceless” GST System to Cut Harassment and Boost Compliance

Delhi CM: Faceless GST System is Needed

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasises the need to simplify and improve the GST system to make it easier for everyone to understand. She believes that transforming the system to be more transparent and straightforward will help reduce harassment and ensure better compliance.

CM Gupta, speaking at the third Accounting Standard Day organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), disclosed that GST dues worth Rs 80,000 crore remain pending for the Delhi government because of distinct disputes and procedural delays.

Develop a faceless system for easy tax collection, Gupta cited, directing GST officers not to summon businesses to their offices if the individuals are already in court. In between the ongoing business concerns for the issues and complexities of the GST process, her remarks have arrived.

The role of the Chartered Accountant (CA) community has been acknowledged by the Chief Minister. She added, the CA community can only bring clarity to issues, referring to the pending GST dues and recommending that the profession support dispute resolution and awareness formation.

Gupta, during her tenure, recognized her first budget presentation as CM, which marked a landmark with a Rs 1 lakh crore budget even after near-empty state coffers. People are discussing the CMs’ first big budget. CM said, I had faith in this community that they would assist the government in meeting the target.
