Central and state tax officers will share information about taxpayers for enforcement action as the government looks to tighten enforcement measures to check GST evasion.
According to the central board of indirect taxes and customs (CBIC) officials, central and state officers are soon going to share information of taxpayers with each other in order to tighten enforcement to check the GST evasion practices.
The latest tweet from the CBIC official twitter handle highlights: “CBIC launches application for sharing information between targeted enforcement action against GST evasion. A big leap in intelligence sharing and cooperative federalism #GST.”
Presently, the state tax officials have assigned with the responsibility administrating and controlling assessees, having annual turnover below INR 1.5 crores in each state whereas the remaining 10 per cent are dealt by the central tax officers.

It has also been decided that all major government bodies, including GST network, CBIC, and Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) will share tax information with each other on quarterly basis to identify and check fraud incidents.
The authorities have taken this decision of strict enforcement to boost the tax revenue collection, which has been below part compared to the government expectation level.
