Union Budget 2026 Enhances MSMEs' Liquidity and Compliance

The government’s commitment to MSMEs is outlined in the Union Budget 2026 through various announcements aimed at improving liquidity, facilitating compliance, and strengthening the formal business environment.

The important thing specified under the Finance Minister’s Budget speech is the need to reduce operational hassles for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly concerning taxation, credit access, and compliance.

GST compliance and ease of business operations are crucial under MSME. One of the outlined areas was credit access, with measures being proposed to enhance institutional lending and improve credit guarantee schemes. The government expressed that easier and quicker credit access is critical for the growth of MSMEs and job generation.

The problem of late payments, a perennial issue for MSMEs, was also dealt with. Also, the Finance Minister repeated the requirement to enhance payments, particularly from the government entities and large companies, to improve working capital cycles.
