Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu requested Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to decrease the GST on mango pulp to 5% from 12% and asked to support the agriculture sector of the state.
Atchannaidu alleged that farmers suffered under the YSRCP regime because of poor policy decisions and a failure to use Central schemes. “The sector was paralysed under Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rule,” he expressed, accusing the previous government of overlooking farmers’ demands.
As per the agriculture minister, 64% of the population of the state relies on agriculture, and the present government is prioritising their welfare.

He cited that 3.5 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes have been procured from Chittoor farmers this season.
The price for Totapuri mangoes has been set by the State government at Rs 12 per kg, with Rs 8 paid by processors and Rs 4 subsidised by the State government. Under the Market Intervention Scheme, proposals have been sent to the Centre to release Rs 130 crore.
On veterinary education, to restore third and fourth-year B.V.Sc and A.H. courses at the College of Veterinary Science in Garividi of Vizianagaram district, Minister Atchannaidu welcomed the approval of the Union government.

Remarking on the former Chief Minister’s proposed visit to Bangarupalem, Atchannaidu stated that permission will be granted, but no unlawful activities or order would be tolerated.
Enough fertilisers and supplies are assured by the minister to the farmers all across the state.
