CBDT Reliefs Taxpayers in J&K and Ladakh by Extending ITR Filing Due Dates

Paying heed to the current situation in two very fresh Union Territories of India i.e. Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the Indian government has provided relief for those struggling with tax filing and compliance due to unavailability of the internet in the region.

In a most recent statement, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced to give an extension in due dates for filing Income Tax Returns and Audit Report for 2019. Directed by the board, deadlines for filing the returns have now been shifted to 30th November 2019

Under Section 119 of the Income Tax Act 1961, a notice is passed declaring that the due dates for IT Return filing & submitting Audit Reports for 2019 in respect of all categories of Income-tax Assesses in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh has been extended to 30th November 2019.

Taxpayers of all the categories prevailing in these two UTs need to comply with the orders from CBDT under section 119 and file returns on or before decided due date to avoid penalties.
