Rajasthan Launches Statewide GST Enforcement Drive, Detects Potential Tax Irregularities Worth Rs. 2.85 Cr

Rajasthan Commercial Tax Department Launches Special Drive to Curb GST Evasion

Commercial Tax Department of Rajasthan has launched a special drive across the state to verify GST evasion and other tax-related irregularities that cause loss of revenue.

A senior official stated that the objective of this operation is to identify businesses that are claiming ineligible Input Tax Credit, selling goods without invoices, and concealing their actual turnover.

The drive has been in progress for more than two months. The department has performed surveys and investigations at 10 business establishments in Jaipur, Ajmer, Beawar, Didwana-Kuchaman, Khairthal-Tijara, and Phalodi.

The operations discovered suspected tax irregularities worth around Rs 2.85 crore. In the investigations, taxpayers voluntarily deposited or reversed nearly Rs 2.51 crore.

On October 12, the department investigated Stubborn Resorts Private Limited located in Jhotwara, Jaipur, regarding the Input Tax Credit (ITC) claimed for resort construction. The investigation revealed that the claimed credit was ineligible, leading the company to reverse an ITC amounting to Rs 55.26 lakh.

In another case, on October 13, the department took action against AGRS Ventures LLP situated in C-Scheme, Jaipur. Officials discovered suspected ineligible ITC of approximately Rs 1 crore related to the construction of immovable property. Subsequently, the company reversed ITC worth Rs 99.76 lakh.

Also, the department had investigated Assam Timber and Plywood on Pushkar Road in Ajmer over suspected sales without appropriate tax invoices and the hiding of business transactions.

Officials physically examined the stock and seized documents suspected to be linked to irregularities. In the initial assessment, potential tax irregularities were estimated at approximately 8 lakh rupees.

Another case involved K C Agencies in Kaisarganj, Ajmer. Officials suspected breaches of the composition scheme rules, along with the sale of goods without bills of supply and the hiding of the actual business turnover.

As per the officials, the department has taken measures against other firms, and the enforcement drive will persist across Rajasthan to determine tax evasion and safeguard government revenue.
