The newly established GST Bhawan has been developed as a modern taxpayer facilitation centre, which has the motive to enhance accessibility, improve service delivery, and promote ease of compliance under the Goods and Services Tax regime.

Shri Surjit Bhujabal addresses the gathering by outlining that the success of GST relies on legislation as well as on trust, voluntary compliance, and partnership between taxpayers and the administration. He cited that the new office shall serve as a centre for facilitation, dialogue, and mutual confidence between the department and citizens.

He stated that Arunachal Pradesh recorded GST revenue collection of Rs 526 crore in the fiscal year 2025-26, registering an exceptional 29.4% growth over the previous year, among the highest growth rates in the country.

Chief Commissioner Shri Kul Prakash Singh specified the significance of developing a cooperative compliance structure where taxpayers are assisted rather than only monitored. He said that the Itanagar facility is the third GST Bhawan established in the Northeast, showing the centre’s continued focus on making tax administration stronger in the region.

Commissioner Shri Shyam Kanu Mahanta stated that the new facility shall enhance efficiency in the taxpayer services and support the rising number of GST-registered taxpayers in Arunachal Pradesh. He ensured that awareness and outreach programmes would continue across the state to motivate voluntary compliance and make the taxpayer engagement stronger.

Attending the event were Papumpare Deputy Commissioner Shri Lobsang Tsering, SGST Commissioner Shri Shashi Wapang Lanu, officials from the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, CRPF, CGST departments, and other senior officers.
