IT Dept Asks Taxpayers to Ignore Erroneous Emails on ‘Significant Transactions’ and Advance Tax

IT Dept Advises Taxpayers to Ignore Wrong Emails Flagging Significant Transactions

A clarification has been issued to the Income Tax Department of India regarding emails sent to taxpayers as part of the ongoing Advance Tax e-Campaign for Assessment Year (AY) 2026-27 (Financial Year 2025-26). This clarification comes after taxpayers reported receiving emails containing wrong information about their “significant transactions.”

Taxpayers Highlight Incorrect Transaction Records

As per the department, automated email communications were sent as part of the Advance Tax e-Campaign, along with wrong data for high-value or significant transactions related to some taxpayers.

Several receivers observed discrepancies in the transaction data and raised issues with the department.

While considering the problem, the tax authority regrets the inconvenience caused and thanks taxpayers for bringing the case to its attention.

The department is working with the service provider to resolve the problem.
